The stress that your company puts on us is unmeasurable, which is why I made the analogy of the turn signal in the first place. It was to illustrate the domino effect of removing something that is vital to us regardless of how little importance you might assume it has. That is ignorant, inconsiderate and irresponsible. As already stated: the Lighting Effects plugin was not removed, it is still available in 32 bit addressing mode.

And as said earlier, Lighting Effects is still there where it had always been, in Photoshop 32bits version. It just has not been ported to the 64 bits one. JayGrc, we did not remove the Lighting Effects plug-in. It's there like it always has been and you can use it just like you used to. So, others have realized, it's been removed. So, from that perspective it's safe to assume that it has been removed.

Maybe you're not aware, but I and countless others, rely on Photoshop for many things. In order to do our work, we expect certain things to be where they are supposed to be when I need them. We're not afforded the luxury to sit back and waste my time on forums while you guys play hide 'n seek with your "improvements".

That is what customer service is all about. Jay, I get the sentiment - but to say that it's been removed is false - it's still there where it's always been. It's no longer being developed in it's current form and it's being re-engineered. We took great care to include this information in the "Read Me" file when you install the software. I completely understand that folks still use this plug-in, that's why we kept bit support in CS5 as bridge until something better could be developed How many times have we heard folks ask for on canvas preview or a larger than postage stamp preview?

We could waste time porting the old version to 64bit - and not even get that done in time for the release of CS5 - and be no-where when it comes to making meaningful improvements. It was a tough decision, but ultimately, this decision will benefit users like you who rely on Lighting Effects. Jeff, while I do I appreciate your response, somehow Adobe doesn't seem to understand the severity of their actions. All you have to do is take a look at any of your forums to realize this.

The so-called "Read me" files is another way of stating; "we didn't spend too much time figuring things out, so we expect you to waste you're time "reading through complex literature to figure it out. They're the equivalent of the legal mouse type on Pharma ads. Do you read those? If you do, then you have way too much time on your hands.

By the time I figure out what has changed, you come out with yet another bug ridden "improvement" with, oh my gosh, more "Read Me" files! And this is not just for Photoshop. I have to do this for Illustrator, inDesign, Flash, Dreamweaver, etc. While we're on the subject, Photoshop seems to freeze up my entire system frequently. Another great improvement to my workflow. I've loss countless hours waiting for it to "thaw". Why should I have to go through this after all I've paid???

Is Adobe going to compensate me for my loss time and money? I'm sure you have a corporate answer ready for that. Step 5 Adjust the intensity to choose the brightness of the light Step 6 You can brighten the rest of the photo with the ambience slider.

Step 7 Choose a different light to adjust. You can select by clicking the light in the Lights panel. A nice orange this time. Step 9 For the 3rd light, you can hide it by clicking the eye icon next to it in the lights panel, or select it and press the trash icon to remove it.

Step 2 Resize the position the light so send the beam down from the left side. Here are the settings Im using Step 3 Increase the ambience until you can just see the background, but its still dark enough that the spotlight has a strong effect. Step 4 Now for some magic. Set it to the lowest value of 1. And the result. Please come back soon I am adding 2 more parts: Lighting a portrait is here as well as how to do crazy realistic and 3D looking textures with this filter.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Hi Colin One of the things that I find so frustrating about PS and trying to learn it from tutorials like yours is that I can follow the exact same steps as an instructor and not even get the same screens that they do.

If you can tell me why that might be I would certainly appreciate it Cheers Alexander. This is so helpful to boost a photo. I am able to give a photo more dimensionality. This was great Colin.
